Aid to students under protsaham scheme

Kakinada, May 25th: Under the Reliance Dhirubhai Ambani Protsaham scheme adopted by the Reliance industries, the top SSC students from economically backward classes will be selected for admission into two year intermediate course in corporate colleges in East Godavari District. According to the scheme which was initiated in 2008-09, the petroleum division of reliance industries will donate Rs 1 crore every year.

 

Till now as many as nearly 600 students in SSC were admitted into corporate colleges of their choice in the district. The Scheme was initiated by the district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi to encourage the meritorious students from economically backward classes and as a measure to avoid them skipping education due to lack of financial assistance.

 

Responding to the request made by collector positively, the head of the petroleum division, Reliance industries, Mr. P.M.S Prasad agreed to donate the amount every year. Notification for the admissions under this scheme will be issued on May 28. 10 merit students from orphanages will also be selected under this scheme.
