Actor Gummadi passes away

Hyderabad, Jan 27th: Veteran Telugu film actor Gummadi Venkateswara Rao died at a corporate hospital late last night. He was 83. He is survived by two sons and five daughters. He entered the tinsel world in 1950 and carved a niche himself acting in over 500 films. Even when young, the versatile character actor had played the role of elderly persons in several films along with thespians N T Rama Rao and A Nageswara Rao, among others in his long career.

Chief Minister K Rosaiah was among those who paid rich tributes to the popular actor. The Chief Minister recalled his long association with Gummadi, who also hailed from Guntur district. He won several awards, including the prestigious Raghupathi Venkaiah Award by the Andhra Pradesh Government.
