Kakinada, Mar 4th: East Godavari District collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi on Thursday said that the an action plan with an out lay of Rs 4.71 crore was prepared to mitigate the water crises in the district. Reviewing over the water scarcity problems in the district in the ensuing summer, Collector said that the district has supplied water to 64 habitations during last year and now, 254 villages were likely to face the water scarcity.` To prevent the impending crisis, advance contingency plan had been prepared and control rooms at mandal and district levels opened.
The Collector said funds to the tune of Rs 6.18 crore was required for taking up 288 works to overcome the critical gaps under drinking water supply. For that, Rs four crore was allotted to the panchayats by the Finance Commission besides using Rs 64 lakh from the Zilla Parishad General Funds, he claimed. Joint collector, Kona Sasidhar, Incharge DRO Rama Krishna Murthy, RWS SE Dayal and others attended.
