Acid attack on Judge

Kakinada, April 21st: Additional district sessions judge, Mr. B. Nagamaruti Sarma sustained injuries when a person throw acid on him while he was on the bench and conducting proceedings. The incident took place at the local court complex on Tuesday. Police identified accused as Ake Suryanarayana (59) and took him into custody. Mean while judge was shifted to Government general hospital for treatment where the doctors said that the condition of the Mr. Sarma was fine and nothing to worry about him as the acid thrown by the accused was a diluted one.

 

According to the sources, Ake Suryanarayana is a native of V.K Rayapuram in Samarlakota Mandal of East Godavari District. More to the surprise he was contesting as independent candidate for the Kakinada Lok Sabha seat and the Peddapuram Assembly constituency in the ensuing elections. He was booked by the police for selling diwali crackers in 2007. Keeping grudge on the judge for not giving favor verdict in his case, the accused threw acid on the him.

 

The accused was charged with cases under IPC 332 and 307 sections. Meanwhile several organizations condemned the acid attack on the judge and sought stringent action on the accused. Students of the local Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Law also condemned the attack.
