Kakinada, Dec 28th: The Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) plans to bring about more awareness among the general public on the importance of alerting them about the public servants involved in graft to help keep tab on corruption. The ACB joint director, Mr. A.R Srinivas said that they were planning to bring out posters and paste them at government offices and at the public places on the functioning of the ACB and need to alert them. He said that they were also planning to publicize through slides in film theaters.
The ACB official maintained that the conviction rate was nearly 65 percent in the cases booked by the ACB against the public servants and claimed credit stating that Andhra Pradesh was relatively better than other states in proving the charges of graft against the officials in the courts. Admitting that though the corruption was growing up the number of cases being booked against the corruption officials was relatively low, he said and added that the number of officials who were punished on the charges of graft from Nellore and Visakhapatnam districts was low.
