Tirupati, Nov 15th: Nearly 4.5 lakh women would get pensions under Abhaya Hastham scheme in the first phase in Andhra Pradesh, State Road and Buildings Minister Galla Arunakumari said. Dedicating the scheme, the brainchild of former Chief Minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to the women groups here, the Minister on Nov 14 said, under the scheme, pensions would be provided to old age women groups, scholarships to students. The scheme would be applicable to all section, irrespective of caste and creed.
Under the scheme, Rs 44,63,757 was distributed to 9719 people in 2009-10 year and Rs 12,92,395 to 19883 others under Abhaya Hastham insurance scheme. While Rs 4,60,800 was distributed to 768 students under Janasri Bima Scholarship in the Tirupati rural mandal in Chittoor district, she added. Chittoor MP N Sivaprasad (TDP), Tirupati RDO Mr Venkateswara Rao, local leaders and other officials have participated in the meeting.
