9day Brahmotsavam...
Tirupati, Nov 13th: Amid chanting of Vedic hymns by temple priests, Dwajarohanam was performed at Padmavathi temple, signaling the commencement of nine-day annual Brahmotsavam of Goddess Padmavathi at Tiruchanur near Tirupati on Nov 13. Temple sources said the sacred yellow cloth flag with the imprint of 'Gaja', a celestial carrier of Padmavathi was hoisted atop the golden flag post Dwajasthambham in the temple complex in the morning.

Myth logically, the event is meant to extend an invitation to the demi-gods and other celestial beings to the grand gala fete while 'Panchami Theertham' will be performed on the last day of the event when a large number of devotees from across the State and the bordering areas of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka converge and take a holy dip in 'Pushkarini'(temple tank). Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD) Chairman D K Audikesavulu Naidu was among others, who witnessed the celestial function. In the evening, Padmavathi atop on 'Chinna Sesha Vahanam' will be taken around four mada streets. TTD has made elaborate arrangements for conduct of the fete.
