70% votes polled in EG and WG

Kakinada, April 23rd: For the second phase of elections organized in the district on April 23, nearly 70% of the votes were polled on the day in both East and West Godavari districts. From the early hours of the day serpentine queues were seen at many of the polling centers, probably to avoid the scorching heat. Polling started at 7am and continued till 5pm. There were some reports from several polling stations stating that the polling started 30 minutes late as there was technical problem raised due to Electronic Voting Machines.

 

Among all the voters most of them were found to be college students who were there to exercise their vote for the first time. West Godavari registered approximately 73.68 percent of voter turnout while the average turnout of voters in east Godavari is registered at 65.03 percent. The three Loksabha constituencies registered 65 percent voting at Kakinada, 66 at Amalapuram and 63 at Rajahmundry. With regard to Assembly the highest polling was registered at Rajanagaram with 77 percent and the least was registered at Ramachandrapuram with 51 percent.
