Kakinada, Mar 25th: The prestigious Nirmal Gram Puraskars of the Ministry of Rural Development will be given to 69 ideal villages in the district at a function to be held by Rural Water Supply department here on March 27. The villages were selected for the awards for effectively implementing sanitation schemes, creating awareness among the people, elected representatives and mobilizing their support for the implementation of welfare schemes. According to RWS, the awards were first given away in 2006 to two villages and from then it reached to 69 villages this year. Besides facilitating, the government would give a cash prize of Rs 50,000 to 5 lakh depending upon the people and prominence of the villages.
