Kakinada, April 6th: The scrutiny of nominations for the second phase of elections which are scheduled to be organized in the district on April 23 was completed on Monday. The scrutiny for all the 18 assembly and 3 parliament constituencies was done by the concerned returning officers under the supervision of the election authorities.
In the 18 assembly constituencies for second phase, 57 out of 356 nomination were rejected due to various reasons. Remaining 299 were accepted. For Amalapuram loksabha constituency 2 out of 17 nominations were rejected. For Rajahmundry constituency 15 nominations were filed. After the scrutiny 2 nominations were rejected by the Rajahmundry returning officer Mrs. Yogitha Rani.
East Godavari district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi has rejected 5 nominations out of the 26 filed for the Kakinada Parliament constituency. He kept PRP nomination candidate Mr. Chalamalasetti Sunil status as pending due to objections over his citizenship. The nomination of the dummy candidate, Mr. Mutyala Satish was also under pending.
