5 Sri Lankans to Krishna

Vijayawada, July 20th: As many as five Sri Lankan fishermen reached the shore of Sorlagondi village in Diviseema of Krishna district on Sunday morning. The fisherman ventured into the sea on July 11 from the east coast of Sri Lanka and their boat was damaged on July 16. Finally on July 20 they reached the Krishna District shore. The fishermen were identified as Rohan Seminda, Vikram Naik, Summan Sriyank, Nimesh Chanak and Grigan Padmala.

 

The fisherman has shown their identification cards to the police and revenue officials and the officials are in turn trying to contact the Sri Lankan officials in Chennai to send them back to their native place. One of the five, speaking in English language has narrated how they were got lost in the sea and their boat damaged in the mid sea. The fisherman handed over the wireless set and cell phone to the Avanigadda police. The police confiscated the boat and sent it for tests.

 

The deputy superintendent of police said rehabilitation will be provided to the fisherman till they leave for their country. The villagers are also extending their help to the them. In the wake of the recent alert made by the intelligence department that terror strikes could be possible from the sea, the district police officials started collecting detailed information from the fisherman.
