Kakinada, Dec 28th: Nearly 400 girl students from 48 upper primary schools in Kakinada region participated in the Kakinada Zonal games and sports meet for girls 2009-10 at the Pithikapuradeesa Government Girls High School here on Monday. Kakinada MLA, Mr. Dwarampudi Chandra Shekar Reddy inaugurated the event. Speaking on the occasion, he said that physical education teachers role was needed in digging out sportsmanship among students.
The District Secondary Schools Athletic Association is conducting the three day event, which comprises games and sports like volleyball, throwball, table tennis, ball badminton etc. The regional joint director of school education, Mr. D.V Krishna Vinayak asked the parents and the teachers to bring about awareness on the importance of outdoor games among students. The District Education Officer, Mr. D. Nageswara Rao said that champions in the event would be presented silver and gold medals. Girls high school HM, Ms Nirmala Grace, presided.
