It is a long wait for customers to have value-added services from BSNL which is postponing the date. Initially Rajahmundry and Kakinada BSNL customers are going to get the facility where in they can directly have a video chat which would enable one to speak to the other face to face.

25 Base Transmitting Stations (BTS) are ready to radiate signals out of 35 stations already erected. In addition to this, another 15 BTS are ready to work along with the railway track between Rajahmundry and Tuni in the next few days. G. Raghavendra Rao, General Manager, BSNL, East Godavari, G.V. Manoj Kumar, DGM (A and P) and V.H.V.R.L.N. Varaprasad (DGM-Cellone) said that this was the first time that 3G services were being launched in Rajahmundry and Kakinada simultaneously in the State. According to Mr. Varaprasad, the 3G phones would have 2 Mbps speed, where the customer can get broadband connectivity and can watch their favourite TV channel live in mobile, download videos of their choice and full track music downloads are possible.

Procedure

The procedure is simple.  The BSNL customers who were using the 2G services can continue the same mobile number for the video calls and there is no need of going ahead with another number. To activate the 3G services the customer need to send a message to the BSNL for the facility where in the services will be changed to the same. For the new customers, they need to go with the a fresh number.  To increase RAM memory in  the  present mobile or purchase new phone with 3G compatibility, one has to get USIM card costing Rs. 59 from BSNL.
