Hyderabad, May 25th: 35 ministers were induced into state cabinet at a grand function organized at Raj Bhavan Here on Monday. Andhra Pradesh State Governor, Narayan Dutt Tiwari administered the oath of offence to the ministers in the presence of chief minister Y.S Raja Shekar Reddy. Dr. Reddy constituted his minister by inducting 20 new faces while dropping 4 members from his previous cabinet which include Mr. Jana Reddy, Mr. J.C Diwakar Reddy, Mr. R. Damodar Reddy and Mr. Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy.
The dropping of the four ministers came as a surprise, but it was the decision taken by chief minister YS Raja Shekar Reddy who was given free hand in selecting his cabinet. The new cabinet includes six women ministers out of which five are from Telangana. While Ms. Gita Reddy, Ms Sabita Reddy and Ms Galla Aruna Kumari are from previous cabinet, Ms. Sunita Laxma Reddy, Ms. D.K. Aruna and Ms. Konda Surekha are new ministers. Portfolios to the newly induced ministers will be allocated on Tuesday.
Surprise decision was taken by YS Raja Shekar Reddy on Monday by selecting Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy as the new speaker. He was a fourth time legislative member from Chitoor district. Mr. Nadendla Manohar, a second time MLA from Tenali of Guntur district was selected as deputy speaker. Sources close to Mr. Kiran Kumar said he was not happy with the assignment as he aspired for a minister-ship.
