Kakinada, Oct 19th: Keeping in view of the terror attacks, the police authorities are planning to set up three Indian Reserved Battalions (IRBs) in the state soon. Speaking to reporters here on Monday, the additional director general of police, Mr. A.K Khan revealed his department’s plans about setting up the IRBs. He said that 15 Andhra Pradesh Special Police battalions are being given complete training to counter extremists’ activities. A part of enhancing such services, the IRBs were proposed and would be set up shortly after receiving a nod from the government, he added.
Mr. Khan further said that services of all wings of the state police were adept in protecting people. They were planning to recruit retired Naval personnel as boat operators for marine police stations, as they were the right persons to operate boats in all types of the marine police operations in hazardous situations at sea. Earlier Mr. Kahn participated in the passing our parade of 275 Stipendiary Cadet Training Police Constables (SCTPCs), who were trained for nine months at the police grounds here on Monday. Addressing the SCTPCs he suggested that they should bring laurels to their parents and society by discharging duties sincerely.
