3 holiday resorts at Kolleru

Vijayawada, Aug 21st: The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) will construct three holiday resorts adjacent to the Kolleru bird sanctuary to promote tourism in Kolleru Lake which spreads over the Krishna and West Godavari districts. The department has finalized tenders for two resorts to be built in Kalakarru and Gudivakalanka villages of West Godavari at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore. Another resort will be built in Kaikalur in Krishna district.

Kolleru is one of the biggest fresh water lakes in Asia and a natural habitat for thousands of migratory birds. The resorts will be built with all amenities to view hundred of migratory birds like open-billed stork, shovellers, painted stork, pintals, glossy ibis and many more. Besides, other species also take shelter. The district collector, Mr. Piyush Kumar has already given consent for the construction of the resort near Kaikalur. The collector said both the central and state government will extend financial support to promote tourism in the district.
