3 held in kidnap case, boy restored

Kakinada, May 27th: Three persons including a woman were arrested in the connection of kidnap of a six year old boy Abishek on Wednesday night. The three day drama ended with the release of the boy and giving relief to the police as the boy is grandson of former Director General of Police, Mr. M.S Raju. The boy was kidnapped on Monday while returning from school at Nagamallithota Junction soon after his mother dropped him in the school. Kidnappers demanded Rs 25 lakh to release the boy.

 

The three accused were identified as Geddam Kiran Kumar 27, his wife Bhanu Jayasri 24, and Karri Durga Prasad 27. According to the district SP, Mr. Y. Nagi Reddy, the prime accused Kiran Kumar and his wife were earlier involved in a similar kidnap and extracted Rs 5 lakh from an officer of Reliance Company. Police filed the case on Monday soon after the parents of the abducted boy informed them and started investigation.

 

A telephone booth owner gave information to the police about one of the accused, Kiran Kumar who made a call from a coin box on Wednesday near I.Polavaram police check post. Police immediately became alert and arrested him. The remaining two were accused later. Police seized the car and the two wheelers used for the kidnap.

 

Mr. Nagi Reddy said that the public telephone booth owner will be rewarded Rs 5,000 and also announced Rs 1,000 reward to the police who investigated the case. Dr. Ravi, father of the kidnapped boy thanked police for restoring the child.
