3 Excise officials held for bribe

Hyderabad, Aug 31st: ACB officials caught red-handed Tenali Prohibition and Excise Constable Ch Srinivasa Rao while accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh on behalf of Tenali Assistant Prohibition and Excise Superintendent P Prabhakara Raju and Tenali Prohibition and Excise Superintendent N Chandramouleswara Rao for doing an official favor.

Prabhakara Raju and Chandramouleswara Rao had demanded Rs 50,000 each as a bribe from S Nageswara Rao for submitting a joint inspection report on the application of the complainant, seeking approval for alterations in the design of his bar and restaurant, to the Deputy Commissioner, Prohibition and Excise, Guntur. The ACB officials conducted simultaneous searches in the houses of all the three accused. An unaccounted cash of Rs 19.33 lakh, found in a suitcase in the house of P Prabhakara Raju, was seized. The accused were arrested and would be produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Vijayawada.

Meanwhile, APNPDCL Additional Assistant Engineer Gudelli Yoganand in Dandepalli Sub-Station of Adilabad District was caught red handed by the ACB Officials yesterday in front of Sri Sai Ganesh Hotel, Luxettipet in Adilabad District, when he accepted Rs 5,000 as a bribe from the complainant for doing an official favor. Yoganand was arrested and would be produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Hyderabad.
