The district administration has completed the reservation process for Panchayat elections at the district level. According to sources, the Backward castes have got 294 seats out of 980 panchayats and the OC's got 273 seats as the district has been taken as a unit. Meanwhile, the Schedule Castes got 277 and Schedule Tribes got 136 panchayats in the district by taking state as a unit. Officials said that the women would get half of the seats in the reservation in every category. But the district Panchayat offiicals could not completed the process of village and mandal level reservations till now. They have to finalise the reservations by 25th of June. A total 17 panchayats are pending with courts, they have also been included in the reservation list, sources said.
