200 students selected under ‘Protsaham’ scheme

Kakinada, June 14th: The selection of students under Dhirubhai Ambani Protsaham Scheme was finalized by the district administration at the local Rangaraya Medical College auditorium here on Sunday. As many as 200 students were selected for admission into various corporate colleges in intermediate courses under this Scheme in East Godavari. Students those secured 532 and above marks in SSC-2009 were selected under this scheme.

 

The scheme was initiated by the East Godavari District collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi, with financial assistance from Reliance Industries Limited (petroleum division). The company donates Rs 1 crore every year for this scheme meant for merit students from economically backward classes. Both the tuition fee and hostel fee will be paid from this fund.

 

This year nearly 1,039 students applied to avail the benefits under the scheme of which girls topped the list and even out numbered the boys. Last year 450 students were selected but the number was limited to 200 this year to make fee adjustments for both the first and second year students. The reliance GM, HR, Mr. M Nagireddy, Mr. M.V Subba Rao, head operations, Mr. Sudhamsu Goswami, head shore-based logistics, Mr. N.V Ramana Murthy and other participated in the program.
