Kakinada, May 14th: As many as 20 people fell ill after drinking tank water at Gorripudi village in Karapa mandal of East Godavari District on Thursday. Seven of them were admitted in Government general hospital of which condition of three of them was critical. It is suspected that some of the unidentified persons mixed pesticide in the tank water in late hours of Wednesday.
On Thursday morning the water was released as usual and most of them drank it. Few of the people in the village noticed pungent smell of it and alerted others. By that time, that drank water started vomiting and some of them developed giddiness. They were shifted to KGH for additional medical aid. Mean while medical authorities arranged medical camp at the area as a precautionary measure.
Kakinada RDO, Mr. G.C Kishore Kumar, district medical and health officer, Dr. Vijay Kumar and deputy superintendent of police, Mr. B Atchuta Rao visited the village to look over the situation. Police filed case and Kakinada rural circle inspector, Mr. M. Venkateswara Rao is investigating on it.
