District Collector, Mr. M. Ravi Chandra stated that East Godavari District pioneered in implementing various welfare schemes launched by the State Government for the welfare of the poor. Addressing the public after hoisting the tri-colour to mark the Republic Day, Mr. Ravi Chandra said that 7,658 new pensions and 24,324 houses would be granted to the public this year and Rs. 2 per Kg rice scheme would be extended to 48,000 more families. Cultural performances given by the children from various schools enthralled the audience. Mr. Ravi Chandra presented certificates of merit to the employees who rendered best services.
