2 escort cops suspended for negligence

Kakinada, July 23rd: The East Godavari superintendent of police, Mr. Y. Nagi Reddy suspended two escort constables of Kovvur MLA T.V Rama Rao for negligence of duties while he was being brought to the Kakinada government hospital from Rajahmundry central prison on Thursday. The two, S. Venkateswara Rao, AR head constable, and S. Mukhalingam from East Godavari police were suspended on charges of permitting the relative of MLA to travel along with him in ambulance in which he was brought to Kakinada from Guntur. Besides this, unauthorized stops were allowed at Rangampeta and Surampalem enroute to Kakinada.

 

The MLA who reached the KGGH at around 9am on the day admitted into the intensive care unit of the cardiology department in the hospital and was kept under observation till afternoon. No visitors including his family members were allowed inside the ICU. Local police made elaborate security arrangements at the hospital and even press persons were not allowed to meet the MLA. The MLA discharged in the afternoon at around 2 pm and sent back to the Rajahmundry central jail.

 

When contacted, the superintendent of KGH, Mr. MBR Sharma said that the condition of the MLA was normal and all the tests conducted on him founds no fault. Some party activists assembled at the hospital and raised slogans in protest against the arrest of the MLA.
