13 cases booked against agitators

Kakinada, Dec 20th: Protests in favor of Samaikya Andhra continued in East Godavari district on Sunday. Leaders of various political parties and students of different schools and colleges in the district actively participated in the agitation. To monitor the law and order situation, a strong posse of police was deployed at the venues of the protests and till now 13 cases were registered against agitators.

The relay hunger strike of Kakinada (Urban) MLA, Mr. Dwarampudi Chandra Shekar Reddy and students of PR Government College at Balaji Chruvu here received an overwhelming response from pro-united Andhra activists. The MLA said that he would continue the agitation till the center changes its decision of dividing the state into parts.

All members of workers union of public and private organizations, students and laborers, took part in rallies and are forming human chains against separate statehood. According to police sources, nearly 2,000 police personnel and armed reserved police forces were deployed at all venues of the protests. Speaking to media, SP Mr. Y. Nagi Reddy said that 13 cases were registered against agitators including students who created disturbance during the protest till Sunday.
