Kakinada, April 21st: Nearly 11 lakh expenditure was recovered by the election authorities from various political parties for violation of poll code. The model code of conduct came into force from April 3, soon after the issue of poll notification by the election commission.  Following the poll code the authorities have sent notices to the party authorities to remove all unauthorized publicity materials including banners, flexi boards and others. When they failed to do so in given time, the authorities removed them and recovered the expenditure from the parties.

The authorities nearly removed 46,927 items from various palaces in the district and seized 179 vehicles for being used unauthorisedly. 88 police cases were also booked at different police stations for violation of poll norms. Organizing political campaigns in prohibited areas and religious places also comes under poll violation. Few of the politicians from TDP were booked for organizing poll campaigns at religious places. Contesting independent candidate for Kakinada Assembly seat, Mr. Mutta Gopala Krishna was arrested and later released on the charges of storing cricket bats and balls in his cinema theater.

The authorities have set up check posts to put a control on the transfer of money, liquor or any other favor to lure the voters. They sought the cooperation from Yanam authorities to put a check on the supply of liquor into the district.
