10, 035 students qualify in IIT-JEE, counseling from June 9

Hyderabad, May 25th: The results of IIT-JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) 2009, held on April 12 were released on Monday. Over 10,035 students have qualified for this exam this year with Nitin Jain, a student from Delhi zone topping the list. Out of the total 10,035 students qualified 1,048 are girls. Nearly four lakh students had appeared in the test held across the country. The highest number of 2,831 students has qualified from Mumbai zone. The counseling for admission will start from June 9.

 

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is conducted for admission to the undergraduate programmes in the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) located at Mumbai, New Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai and Roorkee; Indian School of Mines University, Dhanbad and Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU). All seven of the old IITs will reserve 18% seats for OBC candidates this year. While at the new IITs at Bhubaneshwar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Patna, Punjab, Rajasthan 27% of the total number of seats will be reserved for OBC candidates.
