One killed and other was severely injured in a road mishap here on Tuesday night. Lorry driver lost his control and fell in the salt creek near NTR Bridge, Jagannaickpur. According to police, Neelam Mulaswamy from Anaparthi reached Kakinada on Tuesday night with a load of rice. After unloading rice in Godown, he left to Anaparthi at midnight itself. While he was returning, lorry lost its control and collided with the footpath, and fell into the salt creek. During this accident, man sleeping on the footpath was killed on the spot. While, driver Neelam Mulaswamy was injured severely as lorry was smashed into pieces. He was shifted to ICU in Government General Hospital in ambulance immediately. DSP Balla Lakshmi Narayana, I-Town SI K.Lakshmana Reddy examined the accident spot on Tuesday midnight. They had taken a statement from the driver Muluswamy. The stranger who was dead was sent to mortuary. According to the inhabitants, he used to sleep regularly on the footpath. Earlier, police thought that there might be more victims in lorry. However, under supervision of Fire office head Mr. Rambabu, they examined lorry cabin clearly and declared that nobody were present. Police declared that driver took alcohol during driving which lead to the accident.
