The farmers from East Godavari district here conducted a public meeting, ‘Rythu Sankharavam’ on Friday demanding Remunerative price to paddy, with the support of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) at Ananda Bharati grounds in Kakinada. Speaking on this, State president of the BKS, Mr. Vijaya Ramaraju demanded the Government to secure a remunerative price of Rs. 2,033 per quintal for rice. Later, Farmers went to the residence of Union Minister of State for Defense Mr. M.M.Pallam Raju. Holding saffron flags and raising slogans against the government, the farmers siege his residence. Since Mr. Pallam Raju was not at home, his office staff tried to prevent the farmers from staging the agitation. After half an hour, Mr. Pallam Raju came on line over telephone and spoke in detail with the representatives of the BKS. After listening to their problems, he assured them that he would bring the problems of the farmers to the notice of the Union government and contribute his mite to secure a remunerative price of Rs. 2,033 per quintal for rice. All India vice-president of the BKS Mr. V.Raghava Reddy, General Secretaries Mr. Y.Suryanarayana, Mr. J.Kumara Swamy, Mr. Jameel and others participated in this protest along with farmers.
