'National Sports Day' is Observed

The National Sports Day of India, which is being celebrated every year on 29th of August, marking the birth anniversary of Legendary Hockey Player Mr. Dhyan Chand was grandly held here, at District Sports Grounds in Kakinada. District Collector Mrs. Neethu Kumari Prasad presided over the celebrations. Firstly, She offered garlands to the statue of Dhyan Chand and paid tributes. Speaking on this, she stated that, Dhyan Chand is a real legend in the sports, who made India proud by his extraordinary sporting skills. He was the greatest hockey player of India for ever, she added. 'We are having a very talented players but lack of trainers, their talent was not growing up', she expressed. She noticed that students should try to make the target for Olympics from their school level itself. She said that arrangements are being done to establish a new sports stadium at Samalkot with the help of Defence Minister Mr. M.M.Pallam Raju. Later, Rural MLA, Mr. Kurasala Kannababu stated that, nearly Rs.5 crores are going to invest for sports development in the district with the help of Sports Minister Mr. Vatti Vasanth Kumar. Additional Joint Collector Mr. B.Ramarao, Kakinada Dhyan Chand club Chairman, Mr. N.Seshareddy, In-charge DSDO S.V.Ramana, Olympics Association Secretary Mr. Padmanabham, Dhyan Chand Club President Mr. Ranga, Secretary Mr. Ravi Raju, Treasurer Mr. Sparjan Raju, PR College P.E.T Mr. Venkata Swamy, Mr. Gangadhar, Mr. Bangarraju, District Sports Authority Coaches & Members and players participated in this program.
