Visakhapatnam, Aug 27th: Computer science provides an important skill set for students entering any career area, including other sciences where innovations and breakthroughs increasingly depend on the contributed knowledge of computer scientists, Vice-Chancellor of JNTU-Kakinada Allam Appa Rao said here on Thursday. He was speaking after inaugurating the Technoholix-09, a national-level MCA students’ symposium, being organized by the GITAM University’s Computer Science Department.
Prof. Appa Rao observed that computer science boosted the technology sector and its tremendous contribution to the economy, as well as numerous other sectors that depended on innovative and highly skilled computer science graduates. He suggested to the academic institutions to modify their curriculum and teaching methodologies from time to time and to the students to think beyond text books and develop new concepts while observing the neglected areas of IT sector. Principal of GITAM Institute of Science N. Laxmana Das presided. HoD of Computer Science G.V. Swamy, symposium coordinator V. Nagalaxmi and student representative Ritesh Kumar Yadav also spoke.
