‘Community Kitchen' is the concept on which the East Godavari District administration serves hygienic food to the victims of natural calamities. Hygiene has to be maintained everywhere from kitchen to the place where the food is served. Otherwise, there is every possibility of spread of diseases among those who consumed the food. To overcome these problems, the District administration has come out with the concept of ‘community kitchen'. Mobile kitchens consisting of stoves, utensils, groceries, vegetables and a cook have been appointed to places where the cyclone victims have been stayed. The cooks, with the help of local women and youngsters, prepared food items and served them to the victims. The services of 20 community kitchens were used on Wednesday on a trial basis and food was being served to about 8,000 victims. The response from the public encouraged the authorities to increase the number of kitchens. Joint Collector, Mr. K.Sasidhar stated that, People are very happy, as they are able to eat hot and hygienic food. We have selected cooks from the community and sent them to select areas he added.
