Department of Handlooms and Textiles arranged exhibition-cum-sale of handlooms at Pydah Chalamaiah Kalyana Mandapam at Temple Street here on Monday. The 10-day exhibition titled ‘Cheneta Parimalalu' was inaugurated by District Collector Mr. M. Ravi Chandra. Speaking on the occasion, Collector called upon the people to wear handlooms to encourage the weaving community. Assistant Director of the Department, Mr. K. Chandra Rao said that 25 stalls were arranged in the exhibition, in which weavers from East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasham Districts displayed their works. Sarees ranging from Rs.250 to Rs.5,000 were on display and expecting a sale of Rs. 40 lakh from this exhibition, he added. Exhibition will open from 9am to 9pm and the entry is free.
