This area got its name after the Andhra Pradesh Special Police 3rd battalion which is located here. Police training institute and police quarters are spread over half km in this area. This township is located at the main entry of the town by Pithapuram road. There has been a continuous increase in the commercial area that is now progressing towards the residential areas.
